I throw my $.02 in on this one.

Obviously we have already figured out we can not run 275+ cars during the
shortened days of Slush. Running only 2 runs doesn't seem like a very good
option nor does blocking newbies from participating. I would hate to ( And
will not) drive all the way from Sacramento and go thru the hassle of
changing tires just to get two runs. Also if we block rookies from entering
we could see a backlash in attendance in a few years or perhaps as early as
next season. .

So instead of trying to squeeze everyone in during one short day why not
make each event 2 days long??? For instance on Saturday we run groups 1-4.
Than on Sunday we run the remaining 5-8, both days running identical
courses. . This way we wouldn't have to limit participation as we would only
be running half the cars, we could all get 4 runs instead of 3, and there
could even be time for fun runs at the end. This would work especially well
at GGF due to the limitations of the starting time.

Of course it will cost twice as much to run the events as we would have to
pay for 2 days of "Parking Lot" rental. But if I remember a few threads ago
SCCA has a little surplus money to spend, so why not spend it on more
events? Even if that doesn't cover it I wouldn't mind paying a few more
dollars per event to have the convenience of an extra run along with not
having to hang around all day watching 275+ cars. Also to keep attendance
down on both days you can only enter in your class for that day your group
runs and you will not be able to buy fun runs for the next day. And if
anyone does enter both days they get WRG or a DNF for both days on there
scoring. So this way we can accommodate everyone who wants to come out and
race, we wont be turning people away or trying to push cars thru the course
to fast. Than during the longer summer events switch back to the regular
format that we have used all season. Anyone agree with me?

  Just a thought
  Andy Badertscher
