Check out Carvin. www.carvin.com They have very nice equipment that is
quite affordable. I had a pair of their 15" mains that served duty for
everything from my metal band, to doing filler music at weddings. They cost
$250 or so new, and they went close to 10 years before the speakers needed
to be replaced, with the boxes still in excellent shape. These weren't
treated nice either. The proper system will depend on the event site. I

Someone else mentioned Peavy. They make good stuff as well, but it is
generally pricier than Carvin. Another option is to look for used systems.
You could probably pick up something used for $400 that would work much
better than anythin Radio Shack has to offer.

As for transmitting FM, that requires a seperate component. You take a
pre-amp out of the Sound Board and send it to a transmitter. We have a
transmitter here in Atlanta that cost around $250 IIRC.
