This is only a guess but it's based on simple physics. Auto-x is not nearly
as hard on asphalt as big trucks at an intersection. Those things generate
huge forces when starting up and when stopping. That combined with their
very high per tire weight  loading (5000lbs per tire is not uncommon)
probably is far more destructive than 1200 3000lb cars generating 1 g each
could possibly be.

is, but tight, low-speed turns, with so many cars varying by just a couple
of feet might be pretty tough on it.  And in terms of expense, would it be
cheaper to build an asphalt surface that could stand up to this, or would
concrete ultimately be more cost effective?
