I had the same issue on my '76 TR6...  I mounted the spin on adaptor
such that the filter thread faced the front of the car (i.e. the filter
is mounted fully horizontally)...  I've been told that this means that
the oil will drain back when the car is turned off, and therefore is not
as good as pointing it down, however, my first thought is that the
original canister filter had a similar horizontal configuration...

If I mount the spin on adapter straight down, I cant remove the filter
because of the clutch slave.  Is there any problem angling the adapter
