I also agree with Hugh's experience. We did a customer's motor last Fall
with just under 10.5:1 CR and experienced no problems running the lump on
machine shop's engine dyno and the motor has given no problems for the
customer since. Using Sunoco Ultra 94 pump fuel. The motor made
165hp/180lbft after 14 total pulls on two different days.

Not bad for what it is intended to be, a 6000RPM limited fun street motor.
Customer now using Shell fuels of similar octane.

Also as a side note, regarding the discussion about gas tank restoration.
We had a tank restored / relined by Gas Tank RENU (
http://www.gastankrenu.com ). The price was about $250 and the end result
was quite nice. The reason we chose to "RENU" the tank was that there were
visible pin holes in some of the contoured sections of the tank. Cleaning
the tank, fab'ing patches, and then doing the cosmetic work on the tank
would have been just as costly as using the RENU service. The tank came
back to us in very nice condition with a nice black finish, and so far it is
holding up well to holding gas. I do not anticipate the material they use
to seperate from the inside and melt, this stuff is a very very hard shell.

Cheers,

Kai
