Et al....
I have been following the rear tube shock conversion thread (again) and am
moved to add my own 2-cents worth.

Evidently no one has actually installed one of MOSS's kits because there are
continual references to an idea that it is a really bad design because it
places all the related stresses on the BODY(tub) of the car. From what I can
discern from MOSS's drawings this is simply not true. The kit consists of 3
triangulated open sided boxes that actually transfer all loads back to the
original lever shock mounting bracket on the frame. Yes, holes are drilled
through the body(fenderwell) for the bolts that hold the 'boxes' together but
they are only for access...the mount is not affixed to the body(tub).

As to the overall worth of this style conversion...well, that is your
decision. Certainly the current one-piece brackets are much easier to
install! But here is another heads-up. Some of the current one-piece brackets
will only work with the KYB bare rod shock. Shocks like the KONI for example
have 'hooded' tops that slide with the upper rod down over the bottom tube of
the shock will not work with certain brackets. Ask me how I know...

For what it's worth...
