Yes there is! On some pistons there is a big F right near the wrist pin. On factory standard there is the sizing mark (a diamond with a 1,2,3 or 4 inside) On oversize, the size goes toward the front

Unless this is some radical funk ring, that sounds way off to me too. If you have 1/2 inch of unsupported oil scrape rings, it ain't going to work. Deve's may do something different that I don't know

Actually, IMHO the U20 doesn't have an inherent tendency to run hot. Virtually problems I have ever seen have been a result of a bad radiator, or the old fan clutch, thermostat or a water pump leak.
