I also checked many hardware stores and found the same adapters.
I too didn't want to trust the cheap 29 cent plastic because of the
heat and pressure. The brass reducers had only about 3/4 inch
on each end. Way to short for my comfort. I felt a lot better with
about 2 1/2 inches stuck in each hose and then clamped.
Now lets see. We have an aluminum heater core, brass radiator
end tanks and header tank, Aluminum or cast iron intake, block, and
water pump, and now a piece of copper. Can you spell galvanlytic
reaction? That's why you must use antifreeze with good anti corrosion
properties.
