I understand that my old 50 TD ( sold a few years ago) came from the
factory with the same two tone that was available on the MG YA saloons,
sort of a toolbox Hammerite metalic green with Dark green wings. I think
that the tank was the lighter green and the vallences (sp?) behind the
bumpers were the dark green. Mike Goodman's shop restored one this way
with the dark tan interior and white duck full toneau. The interesting
thing is that I bought this car from the original owner (a friend of my
Aunt's) who swears that the car was all BRG from new. Under the bonnet is
still the metalic green and when I took the side covers off of the tank and
under the upholstery, it was metalic green there - rock chips in the wings
reveal only a slightly darker BRG. It seems that British Motorcars Ltd. of
San Francisco repainted the cars before they hit the sales floor because
everybody hated the two tone. Mike Goodman said that there might have been
a two-tone gold/brown available as well but both are rare. Anyone else gots
any ideas about this.
