Spec is .008 for the intake and .012 for the exhaust when the engine is hot.
Mike's memory is pretty good.  All of the old time mechanic's I know use the
below as a rule.  No one I've ever know adjusts valves with the engine
running.

Set them 0.002" closer than the Hot settings for your cam. Off the top of
my head I can't remember the stock cam clearance settings so double check,
but 0.006" and 0.010" cold seems to ring a bell. FWIW I always set mine
cold.
