That makes sense.  As you can tell, the overhead cam tends to throw me for 
a loop.

Concerning a pushrod engine, it was written:

Remember, the U20 uses an overhead cam. That cam acts as quite an oil
slinger as it spins around and tosses oil all over the place!

If you run the engine without the valve cover you will soak down 
everything
within 20 feet... Heck, if you do something as simple as starting the
engine without the oil filler cap in place, you'll be sorry...
