On aircooled VW's and Corvairs it was not uncommon to take a set of valve
covers and ckut them in half lenghwise so that you could get to the adjusters
and valve stems without having oil pour out all over you. Maybe it would
be possible to cut up an ond/cracked valve cover to shield the oil spray,
while allowing access to the valves and adjusters!
