That would be a Bourgeault, a rare car indeed. The sports racers were the
last cars he worked on before he passed away. Bourgeault also made engine
adapters so you could bolt an Alfa engine to a Hewland transaxle. When I
bought his first purpose-built race car, the Bourgeault Formula Junior,
part of the package included some brochures he had printed for a later
series of formula cars, as well as the engine adapters, oil coolers, and
remote oil filter adapters. Locally (SF Bay Area), Pete Lewis has been
working on a Bourgeault sports racer for somebody for a while now. It came
as several baskets of mismatched parts. ;=( I have a copy of a photo of a
Bourgeault sports racer that had a BRM V-16 stuffed in it! Apparently the
car was destroyed. Also locally, Felix Chiu is going to be running an Elva-
Alfa sports racer. There is also a Genie-Alfa, and perhaps a Bobsy-Alfa
circulating local tracks. Alas, none of these would be cheap. At last years
Concours Italiano, the deal of the century had to be a Formula B car with a
GTA motor for $24K!!! Pretty much any decent sports racer will likely cost
$60K and up. You might get a basket case for less, but end up spending more
in the long run. Keep looking.
It's really a miracle any of these cars survived, when you think about it.
