THIS IS A COMMON "Period" MODIFICATION AND IS CERTAINLY ALLOWED AND
ENCOURAGED BY US AT SVRA. If there are clubs out there that would not allow
this procedure so be it. Seam welding was done on the factory Minis, Jaguar
sedans, Cortinas, you name it. It vastly extends the useful life of a racing
uni-body. Any of us who have seem metal fatigue cracks in well used race cars
knows this. You should also reinforce any point where the suspension attaches
to the body.

This is true if done improperly. Use proper welding procedures or a good
professional.
