I had an old porsche 911s(soft top targa), always dropped the engine with 
the tranny.  It took about 20 minutes.  It's actually easier to change the 
spark plugs that way (unless you have arms like an octopus).  I don't miss 
that, crawling under the car to do the valves and part prices.
