This here's something I will add to the FAQ. Anyway, here's some
pointers:

-scrape all the guck out of the bore using a popsicle stick, or similar
implement
-fashion a fitting using a grease nipple and a brake fitting; use grease
gun to provide back pressure to force piston out
-Use air compressor to force piston out, may require different fittings as
above (WARNING: Do not point the bore at anything valuable, especially
yourself!) Best thing to do is to clamp the master cylinder into a vise
(or onto bench) and "shoot" the piston into a pile of rags
-If it still won't budge, soak it in brake fluid / mineral spirits /
penetrant, try again
-apply a little heat (submerge master in hot water) ...open flames are
NOT recommended. You could melt the rubber bits and fuse the piston into
the bore. You also could catch the brake fluid / penentrant / grease on
fire.
-see if the piston will move into the bore. If it can, you may be able to
use the inner spring (if there is one), and use the spring force to push
the piston out.
-whack the back of the cylinder using a *soft* faced hammer, piece of
wood, forehead, whatever.
-Last resort: Drill a hole in piston, and use EZ-out or self tapping
screw to pull free.

If anyone would like to offer suggestions, elaborations, they would be
most welcome. I will update the FAQ asap.
