>>>But the car has a small problem in the low rpms. It runs
perfectly well
above 2,000 rpm, but it's a bit sputtery getting there. In my
history
of TR ownership, this is sort of a new one to me. I'm generally
not
inclined to first suspect carb misadjustments, but this one seems
to fit
the bill. Thoughts?<<<

My car can make it to second gear without touching the gas pedal
or going over 1000 rpm. When I bought the car, it had no power
at low rpm. A club member adjusted my carbs and doubled my gas
mileage. If your getting less than 20 mpg highway, you probably
need adjustment.

I'd also try new plug wires. They helped smooth my TR6 idle and
solved a rough running/low power condition at low rpm problem in
my Subaru.
