There are some more things you can check.  Check you have the linkage
set out as in the book.  i.e  it will probebly have a leaver on the
linkage to open up the butterly(s) on that a spring, and a rod going to
the accelorator cable.  Have you got that rod as neer to the butterfly
axil as posible.   

Also is there an adjutment for a stop on the peadel.  

The other thing to note is when I adjusted my linkage for balance, I
found it was smothe on idle, but lumpy on acceloration, so I put the
butterflys wide open, and made shure that they both were at the same
angle.  This is probebly compensating for differnt year SU's on each
carb.
