Dave:

I have my tried getting "Classic" insurance for my 76 TR6 "work in progress"
and was told that it didn't qualify. As a result I insure it with my other
cars on my State Farm policy. I just call my agent when I'm ready to put it
on the road in the Spring and call him again when it's time to put her up on
blocks in the Winter.

It is true that, in NJ, as long as the car is registered and has plates on it,
it must be insured. That said, when you notify your agent that it is off the
road for the Winter, the rates drop by about 80%.

Hope this helps some. Let me know if you find a good carrier for classic
insurance in NJ. My rates are about $550.00 for comprehensive only for the 7
months its on the road.
