A couple of questions and possible solutions:
1. Does your new engine have Cam bearings?? If it does you may want to check
or have a machine shop check to see if the oil holes are aligned with the
bearings. This could account for the abnormal wear of the camshaft.

2. Do you have access to an oil pressure gauge? This will give you a more
accurate reading of your oil pressure and help to identify if you have a
faulty sender and or oil pump. Sometimes they reuse oil pumps on an engine
rebuild without testing them first (not to say they didn't but I've had it
happen).

3. Did you notice anymore signs of wear I,e. Piston clearance and valve
train??? this could be a sign of a faulty oil pump.
