Never knew ATF would remove carbon, but ATF in the oil has long been used for
freeing rings, lifters, etc. In the mid 70's Mazda used to recommend it to
customers with oil consumption problems, at a rate of about 25% in the oil.
It freed up stuck rotor side seals.
