Tom,
About the only glitches I can see in your plan to mount a MKII Spit
body on your MKII GT6 chassis are the upper rear shock mount and the
body mounted bracket for the rear radius arms. The rear shock mounts
(the part that is welded to the inner fender wall) is available from
Vicky Brit and should be no problem to weld onto your Spitfire tub.
The front mounting bracket for the radius arm are further inboard on
the rotoflex GT6's. I dont think it would take much to install the
ones from your GT6 on the Spitfire, it could just be a matter of
carefully locating the new holes in the tub, drilling and making a
reinforcing plate to mount inside the tub. Other than that it should
be a really staight-forward job. I built a Spit6 using the tub from
a MKII Spit and the chassis from MKI GT6. Fairly simple. What made
mine a bit more difficult is that I also swapped out the dash and
associated electricalfrom a MKII GT6.
 I just thought of a another glitch....The MKII GT6 has a duel-line
brake master cylinder system and I'm betting that the MKII spit has
the old single line. What this means is the reservoir on the GT6
master cylinder is larger - there is a concave bubble stamped into
the firewall of your GT6. The Spit firewall is probably flat behind
the master cylinder. I could be wrong, but check it out. If it is,
you will need to do some cutting ang patching on your Spit firewall
to make the GT6 master cylinder fit. Also, you will probably need to
use the accelerator shaft from the GT6 on your Spitfire tub, should
be no big deal to change, it just more work.
Plus, look into the compatability between the wiring harnesses - The
Spitfire uses a generator, while the GT6 uses an alternator. This
part may get a little tricky, but it is do-able. I recall seing a
bit on this swap on the internet somewhere.
Aesthetically, you will have to live with the front GT6 bumper
being higher than the rear Spitfire bumpers.

Can anybody else see other problems?

'67 GT6
'68 GT6 both original but I once had a MKII Spit/GT6 MKI/MKII with
throttle cable linkage from a MKIII
