When both rear wheels are turning the same amount ( i.e. in a straight line)
the inner "spider' gears act as a solid mass, that is to say they are not
even being used or "meshing". Its as if you had a solid axle connected
directly to the ring gear. It's only when turning, when one wheel has to
travel a further distance than the other that the spider gears come into
play-not arguing, just an explanation :-)
