No need to make it so complex Bill.  If you slip in a pipe section and
tack it in place, there's no need to modify the iron manifold or use a
different gasket.  It'll all fit together and bolt up exactly the same. 


I don't have one in hand at the moment, but I think the gasket holes
and iron manifold section holes are large enough to allow for even the
use of an identical diameter pipe section tack welded onto the top of
the lower manifold pipes.  

At worse, a touch of grinding may be necessary, absolutely no need to
visit a machine shop.

...This is notthe same as just adding a piece of tube, the opening in
the manifold iswidened so that where the sleeve is fitted the overall
bore remainsconstant. If you want to do this with a 1500 manifold you
are going to haveto speak nicely to the man at the machine shop. You're
also going to need adifferent gasket as it's effective bore will now
need to be wider to clearthe sleeve
