Pickle Tools

Hey Listers,

Do Spitfire MK IV tie rod ends and ball joints usually come out without a lot 
of hassle? 
My plan is to remove the nuts at the bottom of the joints, slip the pickle fork 
in above
the hub piece and smack the pickle with a hammer.  Do I need to heat it up 
first or soak
it with WD40?
