Sorry to assume, but spoken like an MBA. Most players in any competitive
market calculate total cost. Period. Attempting to make money from
shipping is stupid--if one's prices and product quality are competitive,
and one's shipping costs are not, one loses customers. Period.

Note the people who mention VB's value-based shipping costs as
representative of why they don't do business with them. Many UK
customers say the same about Rimmer Bros. with regard to domestic UK
shipping costs.

It just doesn't make good business sense. Provide a superior product at
competitive price, and pass on actual costs of shipment, and one can't
go wrong. Try to wring out the last dime from the customer and one gets
left behind. Excessive shipping and handling charges are just another
label for greed, and, perforce, marketplace stupidity. Do the right
thing, and people will remember. Don't, and they'll remember, too.

Cheers.
