That's what I was going to suggest, too. If you can remove the plug
to work on it (sounds like you can), then treat the repair as you
would think about repairing cracked metal with a weld - vee it out,
rough it up to provide some tooth, and fill it well with JB weld.
The downside of using JB Weld is that you'll have to take the part
out of service for 24 hours.
