I've been down the gear road with sears openers many times before.... it's a
simple fix especially if you have the gear.... pop one out stick the new one
in and away you go...
I converted a standard Sears unit to lift my roll up drum style door.... it
connects via pins to the imput on the chain drive mechanism and has some
simple brackets to hold it in place.... even the limit switches work.... it
took me 3 days to sort it out and a couple of weeks to fine tune it .....
and it was in that tuning stage that I lost the gear a couple of times..
