I take it by your description this is a lap board siding. Have you
considered having it sandblasted by a professional? They use a very fine
grit abrasive and take it all the way back to bare wood. Or you can always
do what it seems like you're doing and scrape it all the way down then wash
and seal it. Remember to use a good quality seler and water repelant to
keep your siding preserved.
