I have the priviledge of working paddock/pit security during NASCAR and IRL 
races at Nazareth Speedway.  Most of the teams don't bring a compressor to 
pit lane.  They have several large tanks ganged together with a regulator.  
Maybe this would be cheaper than a generator or converting your compressor to 
gas.

I don't know what the cost of buying half a dozen large tanks would be.  
Maybe you can get them used at a welding supply store.
