Wouldn't the constant-speed motor w/ variable speed tranny make more =
sense. I would think that slowing the electric motor would cause a loss =
of torque, unless torque is not an issue for your application.
When I worked in the marine industry, we installed a hydraulic powered =
generator as a backup to the gas powered generator. Pretty neat, but =
very messy and expensive.
