for #1-I would recommand putting a larger and better fuel filter in line
(before the fuel pump, if it's outside the tank), and just run it for a
while-I had gotten a car from a junkyard (a camaro), and it plugged up a =
fuel
filter in about 200 miles (enough so I could not even blow through it; =
and
another one in the next several thousand miles), and then replace this =
fuel
filter several times as it gets full of gunk.
I'll add to this: if you've got an electric fuel pump put it in line =
with a filter or two and run a hose from this back into the fuel filler =
of the tank. Run this for a couple of hours and all the crap in the =
fuel should become all the crap in the filters. And there is no risk of =
gunking up the carbs. You can also reverse the flow (if the pump can =
pull through the long added hose) and blow loose anything that may be =
covering the tank pickup (some gas tanks have a sock like filter on the =
gas exit to the fuel line).
