Hi Mike,

    Sorry to hear about misfortune.  It sounds as if you're broken a half shaft.
The replacement is not beyond the skills of a decent DIY'er, but it's a lot
easier if you've seen it done.  I'm taking the liberty of cc'ing Steve Wincze on
this in hopes that he'll respond to you.  I can't think of a person better 
versed
in the subject than Steve.
