One night many years ago I locked myself out of my apartment and I had no
alternative other than to hot wire my car and drive to my parents house to
get another set of keys.
I wish I could remember how to do it but I mounted 2 of the wires to one of
the poles and then touched one of the wires and held it there until the car
started and then let it go.
Try fooling around with the wires.
BTW, the switch is held on by the chrome nut with 2 indentations similar to
a watch. You can use a small screwdriver and hammer to smack it loose.
