I can attest to this. My parents owned a 1990 Plymoth Acclaim V6. Dad put a
hitch on it to haul a 5x8 utility trailer. He used it for the occasional trips
to the dump as well as all of our stuff for camping/vacationing. The first
tranny went at 30-40k. The motor went at 70k. The second tranny went at
around 100-125k. At 150k, the motor would not pass DEQ no matter what he did
to it. A good friend of mine is a Chrysler mechanic and he said (although it
was pretty obvious by then) that those trannies were junk. If I remember
right, they used the same trannies on the minivans. I know for sure they used
the same engines, and my buddy said that there was a design flaw in the motor
that Chrysler decided not to fix - ring seats maybe?? That's why you see so
many Chryslers that are only a few years old, blowing blue smoke.

If you want a minivan to hual, I would suggest a Chevy/GMS Astro/Safari.
Probably won't get the reliability of a Nissan, but for heavy hauling, nothing
compares. My 2 cents.
