Mike,

I have been using an electric fuel pump for 20 years for a variety of
reasons mainly that my car is often stored for long periods of time and it
starts much quicker than cranking with a mechanical pump.

HOWEVER, it did not prevent vapor lock in my 66. Having a return line in a
later car may cure this however.

I did find that installing an electric fan did however cure the vapor lock I
was experiencing. The problem is that when the car sits after running there
is plenty of heat build up and heat soaks the fuel lines and carbs. This
also happened to me in heavy traffic. By installing an electric fan the fan
continues to run after the car is shut off and will continue to run until
the rad cools down to 170 or so. The air also keeps the carbs and fuel lines
from heating up as well as the STARTER which also experiences heat soak.

Try insulating the fuel lines and make sure your heat shield is on.

Hope this helps.

Mike
