Thanks for all your responses. The hesitation/sputtering is now happening
intermittently, even without cutting the engine for a short duration. Based
on your feedback, I am treating this as a vapor lock problem. Short term I
will try the "clothes pins as heat sink" technique, but I think I may try
and install an electric fuel pump. From what I have been able to research,
this appears to be a pretty straightforward solution to the vapor lock
problem. So ...

Has anybody installed an electric fuel pump? Would you care to share (in as
much detail is you can) the how and where of the procedure and any other
information you think is pertinent. Any recommendations on a specific pump
and where I can purchase it.
