Phosphoric acid is exactly what I mean. When you put
Phosphoric acid on Iron Oxide (rust) you get Iron
Phosphate. Iron Phosphate is a purplish/black color.
Iron phosphate is a better surface than iron because it
doesn't rust. The problem is that when you put any acid
on Iron it seeps into all the pores. It is almost
impossible to neutralize it all. The acid starts a
chemical process in iron that promotes rust. Now you've
got rust growing from the pores of the metal. Within a
few months the rust will come back and be much worse
than before. Metal Rehab in Fort Worth has a chemical
immersion process that uses food grade chemicals. It is
environmentally friendly and is not acid. They sell the
chemicals in a liquid and gel form. If you are

coil springs done with wonderful results.
