I'd be really hesitant before I torqued a wheel that tight. Some cars (not
roadsters) will warp the
brake disk if the lugs are overtightened. Plus you will have a heck of a time
getting that wheel off
on the side of the road when you have a flat. The tire stores are more
concerned about the wheel
coming off and them getting sued than they are about getting the right torque.
The cheapo places
don't even use torque wrenches - they just crank the impact wrench way up and
go at it. If I have to
have a car serviced at a tire store, the first thing I do is take it home and
retorque all the lug
nuts. I use 70 ft/lb on mine.
