Can't be much help, but I used to rally one, years ago, had great fun 'til
it fell apart. The motor is basically the same as the Mini, and in the days
of our youth we used to drop the engine/box, etc. straight into our Mini
shells to make them go faster. Of course this was in the days when we
couldn't afford Cooper S bits. It didn't do much for the handling running on
12" wheels at the front with 10" rears!
I suspect your biggest problem is going to be rust and the Hydrolastic
suspension.
