I suggest locating someone with a TR-8 to make your own measurements off.
As to the carb vs injected engines, I don't think there's that much
difference.  I have heard of some folksd with injected setups switching
to carbs for example.  Edelbrook now has a special manifold for the
3.5 litre engine that keeps the height low enoght for a stock hood
arrangement in a TR8.
