HVLP is High Volume, Low Pressure. It is the "New Wave" of paint application
I'm told. It is supposed to greatly reduce overspray, which makes it
economically as well as environmentally attractive. Unfortunately, an entry
level system is >= $700 so it's not for everyone. A friend of mine did a
back of the envelope calculation and figured that it would pay for itself
after about 5 cars. He figured that if you would use $200 of paint to spray
a car conventionally, you would go through about $50 of paint using HVLP.
150*5=750. Anyone know if he is close on this?

Right now, he uses a pressurized pot and gets some of the "Low Pressure"
benefit (reduced overspray) of HVLP with a "conventional" setup for
about $50.
