I must say I'm quite disappointed at the Street Tire changes. I
enjoyed running in ST this Slush Series because with a large number of
competitors, it gave me a good way to gauge my driving level--as a
fairly "junior" driver--against a fairly broad spectrum of cars and
drivers. Also, I'd been hoping to use ST for flexibility, allowing me
to experiment with running my car as either an SP or an SM car while
still competing against the same field and accumulating points towards
the same trophy class. Now ST-ESP or ST-SM isn't even an option... I
know I'll sound a bit whiney but I just don't really feel like getting
R-comps, so with this change my classing options are rather
unappealing and my motivation to come out at all proportionally
reduced.
Maybe I "missed the memo" and maybe it serves me right for not showing
up at any committee meetings, but I wished there'd been more public an
announcement and discussion of pending changes to ST, as I'm sure I'm
not the only one who feels this way and also totally blindsided by
this announcement...
