I've been lusting after an Elise myself since I spent most '95 and '96
working in the UK, and read every snippet in the US press I can find. My
understanding is that the idea of exporting the Elise to the US as a street
car is dead again. However there is a new model based on it - a hard top
version like the competition Elise and a 240 hp V6 engine (most likely from
Renault) that is supposedly targeted at US export. Then again, ownership
of Lotus seems to be changing frequently enough to make any so called
"plans" suspect.
