I've volunteered to co-chair the SCCA round 5 event at the 'Stick on May
20th. So far, no one has stepped up to co-chair it. I just thought you
should all know that I've never chaired an event before, and that I
really don't know what I'm doing (yet). Do you really want a
completely inexperienced person to chair it by himself? :-o

It'd be a Good Thing if one of you experienced folk out there would step
up and volunteer to co-chair it with me. I'm willing to do most of the
work, but I need a partner who can tell me what work I need to do.

Or you can all sit around on the 20th and watch me do a Jerry Lewis
imitation. :) I'm sure you'll have lots of laughs, but we won't start
running until 11, and won't *ever* get finished! :)

  Thanks!"

Congratulations. I'm confident you will set up and run a good show.
We have been in some serious negotiations with the folks at
3Com/Candlestick and they will be coming out to see one of our events for
the first time on May 20. Thus I would suggest you copy the grid area used
by Sobie last time we were there. That seemed to work really well.
On the course, do pay close attention to the finish. I think even
Brian Nemy--who will be the Safety Steward-- learned a few things from
Sobie's event. <G>
Spinning cars at the finish line, as happened at a previous event,
and reported on this forum, are the very kind of thing we don't need.

And do recall if the Safety Steward makes a request in the interest
of safety, he has the ability to cancel the event's insurance. If he does
that, he will announce it and depart the scene. That will also quite
effectively screw up our negotiations with the property management as that
would be happening right in front of them.
