That wasn't what I read.  What I read was that his opinion was that if you 
wanted to run ST tires, you could just run them (on your stock class car) 
since the rules don't prohibit them.  That argument obviously completely 
misses the point.

Switch it around...  Don't allow R tires in stock.  All the folks that 
want to run R tires have a place to do so... SP.

Similar situation, and similar reasons why someone might not want to do 
that.  If anything the "run SP" argument has a little more weight because 
there are two more SP classes than ST classes, and thus more options for 
the 'right' vehicle for a particular class.

There are lots of valid arguments to both sides of this.  I just think 
that pointing out that folks that want to are allowed to run ST tires in 
stock classes is silly.
