Dear Team.Net-

It's almost December, which means it's time for that streak of insanity to
show itself at Dixie Region's next Solo II event. Yep, Allies -vs- Axis is
almost upon us. The event is going to be on the weekend of December 8 and
9 this year. We'll have registration and tech on Saturday, December 8 and
the morning of the event. Registration/Tech is open from 1000 to 1500
(that's 3 PM) on Saturday, and from 0700 to 0930 on Sunday.

As most of you know, A/A is a celebration of the anniversary of Pearl
Harbor Day. We divide the entrants into two teams based on their car's
country of origin and allegiance in WW II. American and British cars are
on the "Allied" side (also known as the forces of Goodness and Light) while
German and Japanese cars are "Axis." (also known as Evil and Darkness)
Italian cars run for the Axis before lunch and the Allies in the afternoon.
French cars usually hide in the weeds until the event is over, and Swedish
cars sell stuff to both sides at enormous profits. (Did I mention this
event is also a festival of "Political IN-Correctness as far as WWII jokes
go?)

The winning team is decided by a points system. Points are calculated by a
complicated and highly secret mathematical algorithm. This score
tabulation will be handled by our own Dr. JK Jackson. He is a physicist by
training, but is also a keen student of history. Not wanting to CHANGE
history, the Allies have won this particular war every time. Go figger.
Hey, it's Florida... Remember the election? Any Axis entrants who wish to
protest this scoring system are advised to go watch the movie "Titanic."
Ya know the boat's gonna sink, but ya watch it anyway, right? Same thing.
Get used to it.

Aside from the racing event, the weekend of December 8/9 also is the
Tallahassee Festival of Lights, which marks our city's entrance into the
Holiday Season. There's a parade on Saturday night and various other
events Saturday and Sunday for "non-combatants." A good many of the racers
have participated in the "Jingle Bell 5K" run the night before, although
one particular CP driver always seems to wind up at a certain establishment
on Park Avenue which sells adult beverages. (Wearing his jingle bells, no
less!)
