Wow, someone else recognizes this fact!  I've been trying to get the SEB to
concede that for some time.  For those who don't know, in E/P the car's
minimum weight is based simply on displacement (1.05 pounds per cc of
displacement).  While this sounds simple and fair on the surface, the
differences in engine technology mean that those of us running older
cars are at a distinct disadvantage.  I have suggested a sliding scale
based on technology, something like 0.95 pounds per cc for a pushrod
motor, 1.00 pounds per cc for an OHC motor with two valves per cylinder
and the current 1.05 pounds per cc for DOHC and/or more than two valves
per cylinder; however, this idea seems to have died without a trace.
