Hello Vance, Jay and list,

As you will recall I am in the middle of an OD operation.

I just took a look at the OD inputshaft sticking out the gearbox. The spring 
clip you are referring to is in a groove just the width of the clip and 
positioned directly past the splines (some 2 inches on the shaft counting 
from the back end).

The pump cam has just that one circlip to retain it.
