Jim---This bolt does have the right handed thread. Chances are there is
some Loctite involved. Sometimes the engine will "turn over" when
losening this bolt, so you may need to jar it loose with an impact
wrench, OR hold onto the fan extension with a pipe wrench when doing the
loosening.

of the crankshaft a "normal" right hand threaded bolt? Bou that sucker
